ACRODANCE - ACROBATIC ARTS

AcroDance: 

Acrobatic arts is a fundemental programme for dance teachers to use alongside their weekly classes. The programme gives safe and effective progressions, with proven results across five divisions of Acrodance: Flexibilty, Strength, Balance, Llimbering and Tumbling.

Simply, thoughtout progressions, take the beginner preschool level dancer from logrolls & summersaultsa to the advanced dancer tumbling effortlessly across the stage.

The Acrobatic Arts syllabus will allow the students to take examinations in Acrodance, whilst developing their strengths and technique through the levels. Students can add this as an additional class, alongside Classical Ballet or Modern training. 

CLASSICAL BALLET - ISTD

Imperial classical Ballet: Classes available at Pre Primary - major Advanced 2 Grades inc. Pointe work. Children from 3 years to Adult are welcome to follow Classical Ballet with in our timetable.

The aim of the Imperial Classical Ballet is to increase the standard and appreciation of Classical Ballet, both in performance and in teaching. Founded over fifty years ago, this Faculty continues to exert a strong influence in the international promotion of the English classical style. The syllabi have been carefully developed in order to provide a fully comprehensive training both for children and young adults who wish to dance for pleasure and for those interested in a professional training

Examinations have been devised to provide a worthwhile sense of achievement both for children and young adults who dance for recreation and for children hoping to pursue a career in classical ballet. There are seven grade examinations ranging from Primary to Grade 6, all of which progressively develop a child's technical ability and understanding, giving him or her a sense of dance, poise and an understanding of its relation to music. Young adults who wish to dance for pleasure and for those interested in a professional training and, therefore, wishing to study for the major Intermediate Foundation, Intermediate, Advanced 1 and Advanced 2 examinations.

MODERN THEATRE - ISTD

Modern Theatre: classes available at Primary - major Advanced 2 Grades inc. Jazz Award tests. Children from 3 years to Adult are welcome to follow Modern Dance with in our timetable.

Modern Theatre Dance defies a single permanent definition. This is largely due to its ability to adapt, develop and evolve with the changing fashion in dance. Through a carefully planned and well-tried examination syllabus, which combines modern dance, jazz and other dance styles, young people are trained to become disciplined and   versatile dancers who have a professional attitude towards dance.

A series of examinations has been created from children's grades through to professional teaching qualifications. The children's work is based on natural movements: walking, running, jumping and skipping. It is designed to encourage an imaginative and rapid response from beginners.
The Jazz Awards provide a basic grounding in modern jazz, and are ideal for the late beginner or as a recreational course of movement. Boys' work has been developed to meet increasing demand for a modern dance training for boys.

STREET DANCE - ISTD/ FREESTYLE

Street Dance: Is a more freestyle approach to the modern day aspects of Pop/ Hip hop, with benifits of learning key skills with relation to music videos and more commercial sides to the industry. It enhances quick isolations and break dance movements incorporating good body control.

Jazz: is a progressive style of Modern dance. The Jazz Awards provide a basic grounding in modern jazz, and are ideal for the late beginner or as a recreational course of movement.
Classes are available to all ages from 6 years - late Teens. Levels are introduced according to ability and age range. Students following the Modern Theatre syllabi can take the Jazz Award tests depending on the level/ grade they are working towards.

TAP DANCING - ISTD

Tap Dance: Classes available at Primary - major Advanced 2 Grades inc. Medal Tap Awards. Children from 3 years to Adult are welcome to follow Modern Dance with in our timetable.

Apart from being an essential skill for the professional dancer, tap dance is one of the most enjoyable and rhythmic forms of recreational dance. The work of the Faculty reflects this by providing extensive syllabi for the amateur market in addition to the children's and professional syllabi.

The Faculty offers a series of examinations from Children's grades through to professional teaching qualifications.
The grade and the major syllabi were revised in the 1980s to reflect the influence of American Tap on British Musical Theatre. In addition there are: Medal Tap awards for children, students and the amateur adults. These are shorter exams designed to encourage good rhythm, style and technique .

Grade 2 and above: Bronze      Grade 4 and above: Silver      Grade 6 and above: Gold
Tap awards are medals tests compromising of 5 individual routines. Targeted at a child with a more confident approach to Tap dancing. Sound technique and performance skills are enhanced to express his/ hers ability and standard with in the range of Tap movement.
